Biome

Biome examines the dichotomy between what is and what could be, asking- is there a more sustainable way? This is a publication design project with a strong focus on identity and design systems and guidelines.

Wordmark

Biome is defined as “a large naturally occurring community of flora and fauna occupying a major habitat”. Everything in our environment lives together in a state of constant flux- creating a living, organic community. These are samples of my wordmark iterations, they focused on the ideas of sustainability, innovation, and community. Ultimately the goal of the publication is to highlight our ability as a society to do the most with the least.

Final wordmark

This wordmark was refined in order to better align with the goal of the publication. I used to shape of the “O” in biome and repeated it in the “m” and “e”. By reusing the same shape, the mark has a very cohesive feel to it, essentially creating a sort of DNA that takes advantage of a resource that was readily available.
